Author Christopher Lawson shares his family recipe for this German dessert.
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. shortening
1 egg replace
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 apples, peeled and sliced
Preheat to 375F. Cream sugar shortening. Add soy milk and egg replacer. To the mixture add the mixture of flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Put in an 8″ pie plate and cover with apple slices. Sprinkle with a little milk, sugar and cinnamon. Bake for 35-40 minutes (test with a toothpick).
