I LOVE to cook. It’s a creative outlet for me. Every new recipe gets made exactly as it’s written once. Then I play and experiment and find a way to change things just so to suit my family or me or whichever group I’m cooking for. When I can’t write a minute longer, I often take a break and play with food. There’s something that gets to me every time, when I’m sifting through raw ingredients and imagining what they will become and then watching them morph into a creation my family loves (I married an Italian…food is love in my house).
When Angela asked me to share a favorite recipe with Authors and Appetizers, I knew I wanted it to be something amazing. Something rich and sinful, yet easy to make so you’ll give it a try and fall in love with it as much as I have. Something that also reflects the magic, the fantasy, that I’m experiencing as I watch my Legacy series branch out into the sci-fi/fantasy genre with Book 2, Secret Legacy…
And then I had it! A dream in a glass. Something I make after nearly every dinner party and for my girlfriends when we get away just by ourselves.

Frozen Brandy Alexander
Ingredients:
2 generous cups of quality vanilla ice cream
3-4 tablespoons of brandy (or less, it’s a matter of taste)
3-5 tablespoons white creme de cacao
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in your blender and mix until creamy and smooth. If you like a smoother texture, add a touch of cream or whole milk (which makes your creation taste even richer ;o)
Spoon into your fanciest glasses and garnish with shaved chocolate (white or dark) if desired.
Serve immediately for a dreamy desert you’ll make again and again!
